Andrew Wilson Announces Candidacy for Indiana Senate District 49

New Harmony businessman Andrew Wilson has formally announced his candidacy for Indiana State Senate District 49.
Wilson, 30, is the first Republican to announce in District 49, which includes Posey, Gibson and Vanderburgh Counties. An economic and organizational leader, Wilson serves as Precinct Vice Chairman in Harmony Township.
“Amanda and I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and excitement involved with my announcement as a candidate for the Indiana State Senate,” Wilson said.
“I believe the people and families of this district are anticipating a fresh and aggressive approach to conservative politics at the Indiana Statehouse” said Wilson, adding that he hopes to advance important fiscal and social issues that matter to Southwestern Indiana.
Wilson is a Principal Auctioneer and Real Estate Broker with William Wilson Auction Realty, a 25-year old second generation family business with office locations in New Harmony and Evansville. Other current ventures of Wilson’s include Blooming Green Development, a real estate development partnership concentrating on acquisition and renovation of dilapidated properties; New Harmony Vision, a four member real estate development group focused on neo-traditional housing concepts in New Harmony and The New Harmony Golf Car Company, a two member golf car rental company with focus on servicing tourism and corporate transportation needs.
Active in the community, Wilson serves on several boards on the local and state level. Currently, he is member of the Indiana Auctioneers Association Executive Board; a member of the Board of the University of Southern Indiana/ New Harmony Foundation; President of the New Harmony School Foundation; a member of the Board of Directors of the Posey County Economic Development Partnership; a member of the Board of Trustees of the Posey County Community Foundation; the New Harmony Workingmen’s Institute; and a member of the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement of Southwestern Indiana.
Wilson was recognized and presented with a Governor’s Award for Tomorrow’s Leaders at the 2007 Leadership Summit in Indianapolis.
A graduate of the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, Bloomington with a degree in Business/Entrepreneurship, Wilson and his wife Amanda live in his hometown of New Harmony. They are members of Johnson United Methodist Church in New Harmony. He enjoys cycling/triathlons and spending time with his wife and 5-year old Labrador, Bailey.
